If there is one thing I take seriously, its Christmas movies. I feel personally attacked when Christmas movies suck and it is a truly magical feeling when they are good. I want everyone to feel that magical feeling this Christmas so I have decided to share the top 10 Christmas movies of all time. This is not my opinion, these are facts.
10. The Muppets Christmas Carol
This was a very divisive choice to the top 10 list because this movie actually gave me nightmares for most of my childhood. Despite this I cannot dispute that this movie is very festive. It it a time old tale about the magic of Christmas softening hearts and I can’t help but love it!
9. It’s a Wonderful Life
Just a heads up, this movie is in black and white so get ready for some #retrovibes. This movie is truly beautiful. It fills you with warmth and joy in the best way possible. If my future husband doesn’t offer to throw a lasso around the moon and pull it down for me, I don’t want anything to do with him.
8. The Santa Clause 2
My all time favourite movie genre is Christmas themed Romantic Comedies. That’s why I love cheesy Hallmark Christmas movies! The Santa Clause 2 is just that. Going along with Santa on his rollercoaster ride to find a wife before Christmas is a) extremely relatable and b) very heart warming!
7. The Polar Express
The more times I watch this movie the less it makes sense. But I keep going back to it, hence why it is on this list. I also really love the idea of visiting the North Pole on Christmas Eve and discovering what Christmas is really about.
6. Home Alone
This is another movie that makes less sense the more you what it but Christmas is not about making sense. As I am typing this I don’t really know why this is Christmas movie? It doesn’t embody the spirit of Christmas and yet I love it and watch it at least 4 times a year.
5. Eloise at Christmastime
Eloise is the original child in a hotel. Zack and Cody learnt everything they know from her! Eloise is a total cutie, Bill is a young stud and Julie Andrews is playing a nanny. What more could one want in a movie?
4. Arthur Christmas
I have this theory that executives at Sony Pictures hacked my dreams and stole this movie. Honestly, if I ever made a Christmas movie it would be Arthur Christmas. The characters, the morals, the banter, it’s extraordinary! Sony Pictures please contact me if you want ideas for an Arthur Christmas 2!
3.The Santa Clause
I know what your thinking, “but Chidera, you have already talked about The Santa Clause”. Well thanks for raising that point kind reader but I just want to point out that there is such a thing as a sequel and the sequel is never as good as the original. The Santa Clause is proof of this. This movie is out first introduction to Scott (Santa) and we fall in love with him and the whole idea of Christmas.
2. How the Grinch Stole Christmas
My life changed significantly after watching the Grinch. The movies changed me as a person. It takes me on an emotional rollercoaster every-time. I laugh, I cry, I sing and I dance. A well rounded movie for a well rounded Christmas.
I have very little to say about this cinematic masterpiece because it speaks for itself. Elf is the greatest movie of all time. Indisputable.
