There are few things that test your patience in life like when it comes to Job Hunting. Whether its been a year or a week, it is a difficult process that requires a great deal of strength and effort. When mixed with the right amount of optimism and perseverance, the process can be a tad smoother for anyone.
If you are reading this during a phase in your life where you are job hunting, I hope you find it useful. Otherwise, make sure to PIN IT or Share with anyone who may find it uplifting.
Embrace this season in life as a gift from God.
Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
One of my favourite verses to meditate on in this season- reminds me to REJOICE. Not only when things are going as planned, but ALWAYS. I am reminded that The Lord is near and there is no reason to be anxious. Every season is a blessing! I truly believe that Gods wants us there for a set amount of time for a reason… and whatever that reason is, choose to say “Father Thank You because you know best!”
Not rocket science- if you want something, ask God in Faith and believe that he can do all things according to his will. Also don’t be afraid to pray with/ for others. I think it is easy to feel embarrassed or self conscious when it comes to letting others know about our struggles. Praying with others also helps takes the focus off self and puts the focus on God- without whom anything is possible.
Be Engaged- Network, Network, Network
Don’t be afraid to go out and meet people. Talk to people in your field- find out what their experiences are, their goals. While not everybody you talk to will be a direct link to your future job, you never know what advice you may get along the way that will one day be invaluable.
Another way to network is by volunteering. This will often help you take the focus off ‘self’ and unto a greater need. You also don’t know what skill or information you might gain while volunteering that will one day be useful in your future job.
Be Encouraged- Don’t give up
Listen to testimonies from friends and others you know and use it as a means to encourage yourself. The worst thing that you can do in this stage is to compare yourself to others. They got a job after only 1 interview…why can’t I? Everyones situation is different but be encouraged that because it happened for them IT CAN and IT WILL happen for you too. Just don’t expect it to happen in exactly the same way.
Finding a job in today’s economy can be difficult. It might be tempting for us to give up, but I believe that God has a greater purpose for each one of us that we can learn and grow from in this season.
