Yes Yes… we are back from our honeymoon.
If you follow me on snapchat, you’ll know that we went to Barbados.. and that our trip involved a lot of great food, colourful cocktails and lots of time spent on the beach.
We spent a glorious 5 days on the beautiful island of Barbados. While we were only there for 5 days, it gave us just enough time to catch up on weeks of sleepless nights in the lead up to our wedding… seriously what are honeymoons for if not to sleep?! ? It was truly the best 5 days of my life.. and whats better is that I got to spend every second of everyday with my Husband… *pinches self* I just said Husband!! Is this real life?! ?
We chose Barbados after extensive research on possible honeymoon destinations that would offer us the opportunity to relax, try out some good food and mingle with locals. We knew that we would only be able to carve out a week from our busy schedules to travel (with the 2 weeks we took for our Traditional Wedding in Nigeria, a longer honeymoon was simply out of the question), we also figured that we should go somewhere close-ish (It wouldn’t make sense to travel around the world for just 5 days)… besides we console ourselves with the thought that when time permits… and when our bank accounts recover, we will go on a more elaborate honeymoon…. I digress. We settled on the Caribbean, since we figured we could get everything we wanted out of a honeymoon without going too far. August/ September is hurricane season.. so we chose to travel to Barbados as they are the island least likely to get affected by the hurricane.
**We actually had amazing weather while we were there, but we are also devastated to hear about the horrible effects of #HurricaneIrma just a few days after we left**
The experience was amazing… where do I start? If I am going to talk about the AMAZINGness that is Barbados, I am going to have to split it up into multiple posts. I’ll be sharing where we stayed, what activities we did and insights about this trip.
In summary, the whole experience was truly amazing and I would highly recommend Barbados to anyone looking for a vacation/ honeymoon that is entertaining, relaxing… and adventurous (if your into that).
